PCS and PPM: what’s the difference?
PCS is your permanent change of station. A Personally Procured Move (PPM), often called DITY, is a way to move some or all of your household goods yourself or through a company you arrange. A partial PPM combines that with a government-arranged shipment.
Get transportation counseling and authorization before committing to a PPM. Ask about current allowances, expenses, advances and settlement requirements; this tool does not estimate or guarantee payment.
Your Space Force starting point
Use your supporting installation transportation office for Guardian-specific orders, entitlements and routing. Department of the Air Force personal-property guidance is a starting point, not a substitute for your orders.
Department of the Air Force Personal Property Activity — PPM guidance
Keep the PCS travel voucher, PPM closeout and any shipment damage claim organized as separate processes.
