Calculate vertical ribbon-rack placement for supported uniforms, using inches and millimeters. This tool does not determine award entitlement or precedence.

For a slanted pocket, use the horizontal line tangent to its highest point where the regulation specifies that reference. Other configurations require their specific figure.

Measurement plan

Choose a supported configuration and enter the number of rows.

Supported rules: standard U.S. ribbons are 3/8 inch high; rows may touch or have a 1/8-inch gap. Pocket-based ribbon placement uses 1/8 inch. With marksmanship badges, the lowest ribbon row is 1/8 inch above the badges’ top edge. See MCO 1020.34H, paragraphs 5300.2, 5301.6–7 and 5501.2/7. Verify current amendments and the actual garment before pinning.

Horizontal alignment, decreasing rows, lapel clearance, devices, multiple breast insignia and uniforms without the applicable pocket reference require the official figures. No on-screen ruler or printed scale is implied.
