NAVY ADMIN GUIDE
Navy Memorandum Template
“Navy memo” can refer to several memorandum formats. The right choice depends on the purpose, audience, and routing. MilAdmin helps you start with the document type rather than blindly copying a memo that may not fit your situation.

Before choosing a memo template
- Identify who the memo is for
- Decide whether the document is for the record, internal coordination, or formal routing
- Use references and enclosures only when they add value
- Keep the subject specific enough to understand without opening the file
Formatting is only part of the job
A professional memo also needs concise wording and a logical paragraph structure. MilAdmin’s Check Document tool can flag awkward wording and rebuild formatting into a new DOCX.

If you need an MFR specifically, use the MFR guide. If the document is external formal correspondence, a standard naval letter may be the better format.
