NAVY ADMIN GUIDE

Navy From, To, Via & Subj Format

The routing lines at the top of a Navy letter tell the reader who originated the correspondence, who receives it, how it routes, and what the document is about. They should be clear before the reader reaches paragraph one.

What each line does

Alignment matters

Do not align these lines with repeated spaces. Use Word tab stops or structured layout so labels and text remain aligned when names or titles change.

Subject-line consistency

MilAdmin normalizes subject presentation during document repair so obvious copy-and-paste capitalization problems do not survive into the corrected DOCX.
