NAVY ADMIN GUIDE
Navy Endorsement Example
The easiest way to understand an endorsement is to think of it as a structured forwarding action: identify the basic correspondence, route it onward, and add only the information or recommendation the endorser needs to provide.

Example logic
- Identify the correspondence being forwarded
- State the endorsement position or added information
- Include any new reference or enclosure only if it is necessary
- Route to the next addressee
- Sign with the appropriate authority
Concise is better
A strong endorsement usually adds value without becoming a second version of the basic letter. If the endorsement needs extensive analysis, consider whether an enclosure or separate supporting document is more appropriate.
Formatting an endorsement
Use consistent tabs, paragraph numbering, and signature spacing. Check the final DOCX in Word rather than relying only on a browser preview.
