NAVY ADMIN GUIDE
Navy Endorsement Format
An endorsement forwards correspondence through the chain while adding information, concurrence, nonconcurrence, recommendations, or other required action. The format should make the endorsing activity and its position unmistakable.

What an endorsement needs to communicate
- What document is being endorsed
- Who is forwarding it and to whom
- Any concurrence, nonconcurrence, recommendation, or added information
- References or enclosures that belong with the endorsement
- Authorized signature
Keep endorsements focused
An endorsement should not restate the entire basic correspondence. Add only what the endorsing command needs to contribute to the record or routing decision.
